I'm On a Mission!

And before you say anything - I'm not becoming a missionary. Sorry, Flying Spaghetti Monster.
Before this year is out I am going to find the best flipping hot chocolate mix ever. My goal is to have found it by Christmas, so I must make haste! And when I find it I'll post it on here, and you can drink assured of 4 months of testing. I'll be trying all kinds of hot chocolate, from Mexican to mocha. But I'll probably test the classics the most.
What I'm looking for:
  • Very creamy stuff. No watery hot chocolate for me, thanks;
  • Lots of flavor.  Plain ol' water and cocoa powder aren't going to cut it anymore;
  •  Comfort. Hot chocolate is very much a comfort drink. If you didn't really feel anything while drinking it something has to be wrong;
  • Simple-ish. I'm willing to put some effort into what I'm making, but slaving over a pan for hours isn't really my cup of tea - or hot chocolate.
I'll post pictures of my creations too! I'm looking forward to my December hot chocolate post quite a lot now!

C'ya later! :D

More Communication, More Coffee. Perfect!

Today I have no dignity left - I went to Tesco not intending to buy stuff, but just hang. Why? At TESCO?! I learned my lesson. I'm supposed to be funky, not copy-cat-crud. Anyway when I came home I told my mom our sad little tale and she wondered why we didn't just go to Costa instead, which was apparently right next to Tesco.  By this point I had forgotten that we only had £1 for the 3 of us, but she is SO right!

So next time this occurs I am going to grab my wallet and instead invite them out for coffee.  I love coffee shops, they have a great vibe. Even if some of them are trying to take over the world and probably aren't exactly nice about it I still adore going to them. Coffee's awesome, friends are awesome, put the two together and presto! A couple of hours well spent!
And now I bet you're thinking: ''Hey! she's just a 12 year old kid! She doesn't have the money to go get coffee instead of using Facebook all the time!'' And if you did, you're right. So if I'm low on cash (aka, all the time) then I'll just invite my friends over for a cup of Nyssa style lattes. In fact, I was just on the Starbucks website and it is mind meltingly awesome.

Oh, and have you ever noticed how on online company websites you can often shop on the American websites, but not the British? It's like that on both the Converse and the Starbucks websites, so watch out.

I am waiting eagerly for fall, my coffee season. In Winter I drink hot chocolate, spring I drink tea (if I can gulp it down), in the summer I prefer ginger ale and in fall I drink coffee. That's how it usually goes. I'm usually not much of a tea person but recently I came across chai tea and I adore it! I've been trying very hard to master the art of the perfect chai tea latte and I just can't! I'll keep trying and I'l make a recipe and post it when I have succeeded. I refuse to use one to make mine, I want to find out myself.

So which do you prefer, Starbucks or Costa? Feel free to share your opinion in the comments. :)
C'ya later! :D

Mittens! Lost and Found

This morning I was crying while handing out fliers. This afternoon I was crying with happiness. What's going on? Well, ain't it obvious?
We lost, and very luckily found our kitty! We're guessing that when dinner was being made yesterday Mittens escaped through our kitchen window. This morning my brother couldn't find him for breakfast. We only got seriously worried at about 12 when we realized that he wasn't in the house. My brother and I went around looking for a while, with no luck so we decided to go mail flyers. Then we heard there were cat eating FOXES (yes, your eyes do not deceive you) in the area. I panicked and we went home to tell our parents the news. Then we went back out again. When we decided to go to the store to give them a flyer we saw one of our parents walking home. With MITTENS! Yay! I think we all probably cried a little. Apparently he was in a bush and a kid on our street found him and gave him pets. Now he is safe and dry, and as fluffy as usual. I love my kitties! <3

Me throughout the Ages - Clothes

Until the age of about 7 or 8 I was a very girly little kid. I wouldn't stop wearing skirts and I loved the colors pink and peach. I was almost....trendy.
For about a year or two after that I just wore anything that i first saw in my closet. I can't say I looked very good back then, and I was picked on a little for it. Luckily this was only a phase and soon enough I moved onto the next.

At 9 or 10 I was under the influence of something even worse than alcohol - online doll dress up games. It completely changed what I was into. I turned to the dark side of the force. I wrote depressing poetry, sang depressing songs badly and dreamed of wearing long black and red dresses.

By the time I was 11 I was a Japanese comic book junkie and my manga heroine was a punk.  My Halloween costume of a zombie killer because my regular clothing.  I liked spikes, rips and Dr Martens.

And now we arrive to the current me. Having been inspired by awesome family members and friends, I've changed quite a lot. I'm glad I did, because I'm the most happy now than I ever have been. Before I was tough, something to be slightly wary of. Only my friends knew how wimpy I actually was. I tried to keep a false image. I was the scary kid that had never laid a finger on anyone. But now I am a happy go lucky kinda person, very loud and loves smiley faces. I only really wear David and Goliath clothing. It's awesome, but I panic a little whenever there's an even slightly formal event.  C'ya later! I hope the next for days for you are filled with unicorns sitting on an awesome orange couch. Bye! :D

P.S. My hair isn't actually made of peppers, sorry. :)

The Olympics

Finally, I have arrived at the subject of the Olympics. I've waited until now because I was too busy watching it on the TV. It's a little ironic how it's supposed to inspire young people to do sports, but somehow you get inspired by being a couch potato?
But I don't know about everyone else but it actually is inspiring. I feel like a dorky porky saying this but it is absolutely astonishing to see what the human body can do. Anyone can be an Olympic athlete if they're willing to work very, very hard for it.

I first got a glimpse of this in the women's weight lifting. Seeing girls that aren't much older than me do lift 100+ kilos really blew my mind.
Zulfiya Chinshanlo was absolutely amazing. I can't get a video up on the page but you can watch it here. She's only 19 and from Kazakhstan and managed to lift 131 kilograms in the clean and jerk lift. She made a world record and took home a gold medal.
Another example of the power we have lies in gymnastics. The USA won gold in artistic gymnastics. They were absolutely amazing - and so was all the other competitors. You can watch that here

I've also been thinking about who I support. I don't not support anyone - I'm in awe of anyone with that kind of determination but I mainly support the USA, Canada, Mexico, anyone who hasn't gotten a medal yet, and countries who've decided to put women in after all. Wait a second...that covers pretty much everyone! Oh well. :)

Another cool thing is how we stop thinking so much about the stupid things that happens. How countries blab at each other and pick fights, all that stuff. I think they should decide that kinda thing in a war-Olympic thing. Countries row and whoever rows the fastest gets it. I bet you're reading this and thinking that it's unfair. Yes, it is. It it's a lot better than killing each other. The best idea is that we just stop bickering, but that isn't going to happen any time soon.

Just think of what you can do it you wanted to. If you signed up for that running team you thought about and really stick to it you could end up world champion. And if you're not really into the whole competition kinda thing you can still get fit, get strong, get happy, get sharp and a lot more just by doing a bit of running every day, or swimming a few times a week, or whatever...
But on the other hand there's nothing wrong with curling up on the couch and watching them do all the work. You can run when the Olympics are over. ;)
